About Shamanism

Shamanism is a term used to describe a core of earth-based healing practices found in indigenous cultures universally and throughout history. Traditionally, the shaman was a leader/healer who had the ability to work in an expanded state of awareness and journey to his or her helping spirits to find the spiritual cause and cure of a person’s illness or difficult situation.

Prolonged grief, anger, or fear, for example, could cause what was called “soul loss.” Losing ones totem or power animal might also lead to feelings of depletion and lack of power The shaman  would journey to his spirit guides in order to find and bring back the spirit of the animal or the lost soul parts, and by doing so was able to restore his or her people to health.

Shamanic teachers and practitioners such as Michael Harner and Sandra Ingerman have done pioneer work in adapting Shamanism to today’s modern Western world, and it has proven to be a valid spiritual healing modality. Connecting with this ancient healing wisdom can be powerful and transformative as well as exhilarating.

About Astrology

Most people know their Sun sign, which describes a person’s basic life energy, the will to be and the drive for significance. It can be surprising to see how much can be known just from studying the astrological sign the Sun was transiting on one’s birth date.

However, setting up a horoscope gives a much more complete picture of the personality structure. A chart is set up by using the date, time and place of birth.to calculate a planetary pattern that is unique for each person.  Even in the case of twins no two charts are exactly the same. Carl Jung wrote about how events happening at a certain time take on the qualities of that time. Another way of saying this is “As Above, so Below’ - the pattern of the planets in our solar system are  reflected in each birth chart and provide a wealth of information.

A  birth chart, for example, can show life purpose and goals and the best ways to achieve these. It reveals strengths and challenges within the personality and how to work with them. It shows dynamics in one’s family and in other personal relationships. For the Astrological practitioner it provides an effective way to help clients see themselves more clearly, and know themselves more deeply.

A child is born on that day and at that hour when the celestial rays are in mathematical harmony with his or her individual karma. The resulting horoscope is a challenging portrait revealing his or her unalterable past, and its probable future result.
